MOHS Hardness / Streak Test Kit

This pack contains minerals with a MOHS hardness of 1 to 9, with a easy to carry pouch and a streak plate. Contains instructions and information. MOHS Scale measures mineral hardness, by the scratch resistance of various materials to scratch a softer material. MOHS was created in 1812 by the German mineralogist, Friedrich Mohs.

MOHS Hardness Testing Kit

Moh's Hardness Testing Pencils: 3-9 of the Moh's Scale of Hardness, Moh's minerals are set inside brass holder, bonded to a wooden handle, numbers 3 & 4 are manufactured from metal alloys with a hardness that corresponds to the scale. The set is supplied in a protective canvas roll; ideal for use in field or laboratory. Instructions included. Dimensions: 26cm x 18cm. Pencils are 12cm long.

Streak Plates

Streak Plates, White, both are 40 x 40 x 5 x 0.1 Unglazed. Each Pack contains 10 Plates. Streak plates are used to identify minerals, each mineral gives off a different colour which is not necessarily the same colour as the rock. For example, Amethyst can be identified by a white/grey streak. Contains a list of common minerals with hardness, colour and streak.

Swing Magnet Scribers

These scribes contain a magnet in the top used as a pivot swing magnet for testing the magnetic properties of minerals. They are made from hardened steel with a pocket clip and a reversible top.
